Renegade Craft Fair, part deux

So, Renegade was a worthwhile experience. Other than the extreme heat which does no good to someone with my complexion (ie. reflectively white), it was really great to display our work publicly. Since our regular interaction with customers occurs online, it was very informative to see what people were most interested in (the abyssal prints, the lure catalog prints, the Bubble necklace and the Double-Faced necklace from my Brevity collection), and what needed further explanation (the Celestial Extinction prints - up in our store soon!). It was also a great venue to meet people - thanks to everyone who visited our booth and supported Sub-Studio!

There was a lot of okay stuff at RCF, but not a lot stood out. My favorite vendors were Something's Hiding in Here, Erica Weiner, and Lorena Barrezueta, Sesame Letterpress, and Foxy & Winston. Lovely work all!

Pair Tees Photoshoot

Here are a few images from our shoot on Sunday. Laura (the baby) was great - she barely cried, she adapted to us very quickly, she was expressive...She was unfortunately a little smaller than our smallest t-shirt, but she still manages to make the shirts look pretty cute! We really appreciate Laura and her mom opening up their home to us and subjecting themselves to the camera.

Double-faced

I'm still trying to figure out how to photograph the various jewelry pieces. We were just fooling around, but I think I might actually like to photograph women in front of their mirrors.

This necklace uses a druzy geode. I like that it's double-sided. Rock-side. Pretty crystal-side!

Pair Tees

I'm so excited! We've been imagining these Pair Tees for ages, but my place (which is where we do all the printing) just isn't set up to do textile screening properly. We found someone who could print them for us, and got them back a few hours ago and I'm really happy with the way they turned out! The image isn't very good, but you get the idea - it's a t-shirt for mom and a t-shirt for baby. There are three designs for now: Emu, Jellyfish, and Echidna with plans for more on the way. We're going to photograph the designs properly this weekend and will be selling them at Renegade (and shortly after in our shop and on Etsy).

Hunter Gatherer

Hunter Gatherer is the loose beginnings of a graphic novel that we have been throwing around for a few months now. With any luck, we'll be able to get back to it and get to develop it a little more so we can really get the story down and start really drawing through it. but for now it's just a collection of about 20 different single panels that are more like snapshots of a story than a cohesive sequence.

Magenta Abyssal

In honor of the fact that our first edition of the Abyssal print is almost sold out, we silk-screened a new colorway last night - magenta and tangerine! I like it. I like it a lot. For now it is only available in our Etsy store. We will also be selling it at Renegade Craft Fair, too.

PS. Thanks so much to poppytalk for featuring the print! That was a pleasant surprise!
