Martine Viergever – GUMMI C

I’m guilty of wearing hair-ties around my arm on a daily basis. Martine Viergever created Gummi C as a fun way to accessories rubber bands or other ties that you keep on your wrist. Simply stretch the band, and add on one of the charms, and voila – you have an insta-bracelet. While the charms look a little industrial, they are made of sterling silver, gold-plated sterling silver or 14-k gold.

Milk Design Shop – Tyvek bags

These Tyvek bags by Milk Design Shop are gorgeous, as is everything else in their shop!

Lost Values – LFLECT

Lost Value’s LFLECT scarves are a novel idea – they are a mixture of Scottish wool and a reflective material, and so they light up when a car light shines on them. You can also customize the scarves with a message, although from the photos I’m not convinced that the message is all that legible when lit up. Regardless, I love the idea of an attractive, reflective scarf that helps to keep bicyclists safer.

UPDATE: Lost Value clarified that the customized scarf is intended to act as a subtle, private message. Once wrapped around you, the idea is for the message to be closed to your own skin, such as someone saying “I love you”.

Nike+ Fuelband

A pretty cool idea to track data for everyone/anyone – The Nike+ Fuelband – All your daily activity counts towards an activity index that you can track online.

Fiona Kruger – Memento Mori

Ooh, I dig this Memento Mori Watch by Fiona Kruger. The level of detail is just gorgeous.

Memento Mori reinterprets the theme of mortality in horlogery, drawing inspiration from the 17th century skull watch of Mary Queen of Scotts, Mexican Dia de Los Muertos decoration and beautifully decorated skeleton movements found in today’s luxury watches.

The pieces of the skeletonised dial are layered to make up the form of a skull, echoing the layers which make up a mechanical watch movement. Each piece is decorated and assembled by hand resulting in a unique timepiece rich in tradition, know how and symbolism.

Brevity – Calligraphy Necklace

I’ve been turning over this idea in my mind for a long time now, and am happy to finally introduce the Calligraphy Necklace! It’s a twist on the traditional and ubiquitous calligraphy necklace, with each pendant actually generated from hand-written calligraphy. I partnered with the very talented Crystal Kluge, who hand letters each custom pendant, making each necklace as unique as the wearer. Besides making a beautiful product, I was also interested in juxtaposing a very precise and machined material (stainless steel) with handwritten text.

On another note – tomorrow we’re headed to Pittsburgh for a wedding. We’ve been pretty swamped this week with various projects, so we weren’t able to get posts together for Thursday or Friday, but we will be back on Monday, as usual! In the meantime, have an awesome weekend!

Origei – Art You Wear

These scarfs and stockings by a mother and daughter partnership, Origei, are gorgeous. They create “art you wear” – one-of-a-kind articles that are handcrafted in their studio. Beautiful.
