Comet Skateboards and e2e Materials

Good for Ithaca! Comet Skateboards combined with e2e Materials to use petroleum-free biodegradable composites developed at Cornell University in their skateboard construction. The e2e laminates update the traditional 7-ply and glue with soy and hemp layers to produce a more environmentally friendly board.

Nice to see some innovative products coming from my alma mater and local skatepark.

Nike Zoom TRE ads

Check out the Nike SB ads for the Zoom Tre, shot by John Humphries. I love the fisheye combined with the pixelated ceilings. I’d like to see the set they shot against here. I appreciate that Nike takes a little different stance on the ads by creating sets and combining graphics and photo. Their P-Rod commercial is a great example of their work.

2ReVert

2ReVert takes old skateboards and recycles them into jewelry. Skateboards are made up of 7-layer maple plywood, with some plys being natural and others colored, which makes for some beautiful material to work with! Above are a few of the designs I liked – you can check out more here.

Habitat Metamorphosis Tote

I’m not a big fan of the man-tote, but the Metamorphosis Tote would be great for a girl or going to the beach. The simple pattern and bold color are trademark Habitat.

Chocolate Skateboards City Street Series

Chocolate consistently puts out great artwork series on their decks. They are always worthy of hanging on a wall, and sometimes I think that it would be better to hang than skate them. Check out their City Street series (left) and the Italo Modern series (right) from this season’s decks.

Lakai Recycled Program: Kost-One and Coda

Brand spanking (almost) new: The Recycled Program from Lakai utilizes recycled waste material to conjour up custom, while mismatched, Kost One’s. The Coda, with fewer upper panels, is also available for those with quieter taste.

Brian Gaberman

How many photographers can say they had a part in 411? And Chomp on This shouldn’t really count as comparison. Brian Gaberman is now behind the lens and building a beautiful portfolio of skate photos that go far beyond simply documenting a trick. In a field recently dominated by high-production videos, it’s nice to see a single instant framed, lit, captured and printed.

We’re heading to the Bronx for Thanksgiving and are taking Thursday and Friday off – enjoy the holiday weekend! Tell your mama’s what you’re thankful for!

Drop Sneakers Not Bombs – Nike x Active Free Rod

The Nike x Active Free Rod is the Drop Sneakers Not Bombs version of the P-Rod and the Free. I love the feel of the Nike Free and anything that uses the Free midsole/outsole is good for me.

DSNB sneakers are available through Active only and proceeds benefit Invisible Children

Altamont Apparel

Altamont is the new apparel company started by Andrew Reynolds. They make some very nice stuff. Lady of the Night (left) and Invisible (right) are both from the 2007 hoods line. I like the washed-out qualities of all the clothing. Check them out.

The Megaramp

The Megaramp is no joke. It has its own official blog now. I recommend checking out the construction photos of The Staples Center. Try to pick out a person in the photos, that will show you how huge this thing really is.
