The Christiaan Armoires by Piet Houtenbos are truly gorgeous. Oversized (9′ tall!), minimal, and finely crafted.
Solid wood pieces like The Christiaan Armoires are very special. In this case a single 300 year old tree trunk from Pennsylvania was milled and composed across not just one but all three cabinet faces. Utilizing whole trees can create dramatically unique and gorgeously unrepeatable furniture. These pieces are truly one of a kind designed and built to last through the generations. In the case these triple Armoires, centuries of growth are carefully sliced, milled, and composed in a delicate 2-3 month process in order to bring out the inherent beauty in the wood. Each tree can tell a visual story about how it lived and it’s no more apparent than in pieces like these.

Furniture pieces like these are becoming more and more rare nowadays …I love the look and feel of these armoires…the design actually gives you the feel of a trunk …the richness of the wood grain gives it life …you are right…I love it when I see products with soul to them and this is one of them…great post !
