Jawbone – Jambox

Jawbone’s new Jambox speaker looks pretty awesome, but what I really like about it is the packaging. Simple and clever – it gets the point across! The Jambox is a wireless speaker and speakerphone, designed by fuseproject. You can order the Jambox here.

Birds by Matti Klennel for Iittala

Seriously beautiful birds by Matti Klennel for Iittala. Inspired by the magpie, who are kleptomaniacs, the nesting forms can conceal little objects between segments. I can’t say how badly I want a few of these.

BlockDock

I am totally digging the BlockDock for the iPad – we’ve started using an Epicurious app when cooking, and this would be a handy way to get the iPad off of the counter top and someplace safer and more visible. The BlockDock is hand crafted from wood locally harvested in the Pacific Northwest (and it’s affordable, which means I might actually buy one!).

Junk Baby Print by Zach Johnsen

Junk Baby by Zack Johnsen makes me think of a combination of katamari and garbage pail kids.

The Working Proof & Rare Device: Aesopica

Another project that’s been a long time in the making, and one that we are thrilled to announce: Rare Device and The Working Proof are proud to present Aesopica, a group art show centered around Aesop’s Fables. Aesopica was inspired by 826 National’s work – a network of nine nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping students with expository and creative writing. Organized around a theme of storytelling, we asked twelve amazing artists to participate by illustrating one of Aesop’s Fables. Participating artists include Andrea D’Aquino, Samantha Hahn, Caitlin Keegan, Sol Linero, OSoo, Danna Ray, Amy Ruppel, Catherine Ryan, Lisa Solomon, Yasmine Surovec, Julianna Swaney, and Gretchen Wagoner.

The show opens this Friday, November 19th, and if you are in San Francisco, I hope that you will stop by the opening! The show will run through January 9 in the Rare Device project space. Both original artwork and prints will be available, as well as a show catalog printed by Blurb. 15% of the gross proceeds from the show will be donated to 826 Valencia, the San Francisco chapter of 826 National.

Huge thanks to Blurb and POVevolving for being sponsors of the show, and even bigger thanks to the artists for creating such beautiful work!

The Muppets Youtube Channel has some pretty funny shorts. Just in time for Thanksgiving is the Swedish Chef pumpkin carving:

Brevity – Lines Collection

I’m super excited to announce a project I’ve been working on for a while now – a new jewelry collection by Brevity, called Lines! The pieces are inspired by the simple elegance of a line. Lines features 21 different necklace styles ranging in price from $30 to $60, and six new earring styles.

The Working Proof: Hadley Hutton – Starry Peacock

Hadley Hutton created this beautiful print, Starry Peacock, for The Working Proof. Starry Peacock is part of a series of albino animal paintings: deers, moths, peacocks, horses, and bears. Hadley endeavors to capture the majesty of these glowing creatures as they stand out in stark relief against their surroundings. Hadley’s print benefits Médecins Sans Frontières, which is our featured charity of the week. Through Sunday, for each print sold that supports this charity, we will donate 20%, instead of the usual 15%. See all of the prints here.

Read our interview with Hadley here, and buy the print here.

Chronicle Books – Haul-idays

I don’t normally do this, but I love Chronicle Books and they are having an awesome promotion – “Celebrate the Haul-idays” – and I can’t help myself. They are offering a blog and a reader each up to $500 worth of free books. This is my wishlist – if you want the chance to win this set of books, leave a comment on this post and if we win, one of our commenters will win a set of books, too! They will announce the winners on December 13th.
