We don’t usually feature much motion graphics, but I have seen a lot of Mark Coleran’s work in big-time movies. His teams build the very cool GUI’s for fictional systems and I wish my OS looked like the ones they design (sorry Apple). Check out his reel below to see what I’m talking about.
Stockholm Library Rendering by a team of students at the Architecture School of Paris La Seine. The rendering story on CGI society is written by Olivier Charles, one of the team members. Pretty interesting story and an amazing image. The path of architectural representation is going so highly technical, it’s frightening yet awe inspiring.
We’re busy compiling our gift guide for this year, which should start any day now…But we wanted to reach out to our very talented pool of readers to ask for submissions to our gift guide. We’re looking for newish work (within the last year, preferably) that is affordable. Although, if you have a product that is so amazing awesome that the price tag doesn’t matter, send that on over, too. Oh – it should obviously be buyable online, too. I realize this is a pretty last minute call for submissions – our apologies!
I am loving Spoon Me Love Me – a newly launched collaboration between Caroline Hwang and Bryn Smith. The project is a collaborative lovenote to both Brooklyn and New York City. Apparently other cities are in the works. Cute stuff!
This is perhaps one of the coolest advent calendars that I’ve come across…and you could totally make your own very easily. From Present&Correct:
“Each day from 1st-24th December we will put just one of these special boxes on the shelves. Once it’s gone it’s gone! Until the next day when we do it all over again. Each wrapped box contains a notebook, vintage domino, pencil & a clip.. plus a variety of paper shapes, labels & whatever else takes our fancy. Don’t worry, we only put lovely things in them! Boxes measure 6.25×4.5×2.25″. Select date from on the right. Good luck!”
This is a lovely new print by Lisa Golightly aka Kiki and Polly, of an original painting – King of the Mountain. Lisa’s work is centered around children and childhood – she says that she is drawn to the intersection between how her children experience the world and how that influences her own memories of childhood.
Lisa chose to pair her print with Victory Junction. I love what she said about why she chose Victory Junction: “My painting is a bit about finding victory and joy in little things, and children do that better than anyone. Victory Junction provides kids with serious health problems that same sort of joy in the everyday that can be hard to find when you are sick.”
Read the interview with Lisa here, and buy the print here.
Love this new print by Vasco Mourao – so incredibly detailed, I don’t know how he does it without going crazy. Anyway – only ten were made, so if you like it, you’d better move fast!
I’m a sucker for anything related to either Aliens or Predator, or the combination of them both, no matter how cheesy the new AVP movies are. And it looks like someone at Expedition One shares my affection for these ugly mothers. This t-shirt is proof. I hope the upcoming Predators movie is better than the AVP series.
We created a handy-dandy submissions form. Please submit your latest and greatest projects to us this way - it's much more effective than sending us an email. We look forward to seeing what you are cooking up!

Follow the Leader is an ongoing collaboration. We began with six drawing 'seeds' and asked our friends and community to complete the seeds, in whatever way they imagined. See all of the Follow the Leader collaborations here.
