Xpand-Furniture

This is an interesting table that does away with leaves and can be expanded to extend to the length that you desire. Available here.

Anne Maa

Love these jewelry pieces from Anne Maa. A lot of people are doing the wire wrapped rings these days, but I really like these because they enclose the stones nicely. Plus, I’m a sucker for a rough cut stone.

Live Art Auction for Stoked Mentoring

Stoked is a non-profit organization that uses skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing to develop and empower youth in NYC and LA. They are holding a Live Art Auction on January 13th, in NYC. If you are interested in attending or purchasing art, please visit the Stoked Live Art Auction Website and register.

Stoked is a great and growing organization that I am always excited to volunteer for design projects. As we collaborate more, look for posts on the blog detailing the events and how you can contribute by becoming a mentor or simply by volunteering.

Justine Ashbee

Justine Ashbee is a Seattle-based artist who draws by hand with Sharpie pens. Her works are often large scale installations. She begins with a curve and allows the lines and forms to evolve and morph from there.

Joana Ozorio de Almeida Meroz: The Ornamented Life

I came across Joana Ozorio de Almeida Meroz of The Ornamented Life via Style Files. Joana’s interest is in taking ordinary, everyday objects and turning them into little design vignettes. Shown are the Crackery Tableware set, the Lace-Drain, and the Flower-Power Screws.

Brent Comber

I love the simple shapes of Brent Comber’s furniture. The slight reveal between the base of the stool and the floor is a nice detail, too. The furniture is made of reclaimed (fallen or already-harvested wood) or recycled wood.

Design*Sponge Shop

We are very excited to announce our inclusion in the January Design*Sponge shop. The cards above are from the Sea Pattern series and are available in a pack of four (one of each design) for $16, with shipping included.

Grace Bonney also launched a really great new project – she is raising money for a scholarship fund for three design students, which will be awarded later in the year. 100% of the proceeds from the following the items in the shop will go towards this award (as well as a percentage of the ad revenue): the Tug Drawing and Chair Drawing by Alyson Fox, the A-LIGHT by RE-SURFACE (Donna Brady), and beautiful handprinted pillows by Lena Corwin. I hope you will check these out and support Grace in this new endeavor!

Fully Operational

LEGO, a mainstay of any kid’s toy box, has come out with some pretty crazy stuff lately. No longer considered solely a ‘toy’ company, the nostalgic value of playing with Lego’s has lead to a series of collectible model sets. The Death Star II is one such example. At $299.99USD, it’s pretty expensive for a lego kit. The Darth Vader Keychain is a little more affordable, at $3.99USD.

Jade Gedeon: We Dream in Color

There are lots of lovely jewelry finds on Karen’s blog Clothes-Pin. One is Australian based designer Jade Gedeon, who produces gorgeous jewelry under the name We Dream in Color. I love her floral copper and brass pieces the most.

Dennice Mankarious

I love these neck cozies by Dennice Mankarious. They are hand knit with wooden buttons and come in both charcoal gray and olive. The cozies are available at Little Paper Planes.
