Kate Hume – Birdman Furniture

Kate Hume is also part of a furniture design company called Birdman Furniture. I think the chair could be more graceful, but I like the separation between the head rest and the seat.

Kate Hume

I like these vases from Kate Hume’s Gem collection…As I’m sure you can tell from the jewelry I post, I love rough cut stones and shapes, and the crystalline forms of these vases really strike a chord with me. I love the contrast between the frosted glass and the edges of the cut glass, as well.

Miki Iwasaki

I blogged about Miki Iwasaki last week – besides nice graphic designs for snowboards, Miki also makes beautiful furniture. I love the simple designs, and the subtle details like the different color of the dowel connections on the bench.

Lorraine Brennan

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while – Lorraine Brennan created gold and silver plated limited edition spool vases, called “oh china”. Does anyone know if it’s real thread on the vase, or if it’s just a ceramic imitation of thread? Anyway, I like the idea of giving a new function to an existing, banal household object.

Linea Nervenkitt

Linea Nervenkitt has some gorgeous jewelry lines. I love the layering of chain and the clustering of stones in some of the pieces. Jane’s story is great as well – she was a PhD student at Harvard studying neuroscience, and used her graduate stipend to fund her interest in jewelry. Not that I would know, but “Nervenkitt” is an old German term for a particular type of brain cell. Indeed.

Trek 2000

I think these are some sexy USB flash drives, if there is such a thing. I like the simple, crystalline forms. These were designed by Genometri for Trek 2000.

Suck UK Key Bottle Opener

The Key Bottle Opener from Suck UK is a nice little piece of hardware for your cluttered life. A skeleton key…for beer.

Binth

I was introduced to Binth by Grace over at Design*Sponge. I love the prints they have up in their store, especially these Japanese-inspired silk-screens. Beautiful! Their valentine’s day cards are super nice, too. Love the stitched look. Binth is a collaboration between Linnea Gits, Suzanna Bierwirth, and Peter Dunham.

Desu Design

This is the Either/Or Table by Desu Design. I love that it can be used both as a coffee table and as a side table. In New York City, where space counts, a multi-functional table works for me!

Flare on the Field

Who says that football boots are boring? Instead of fins and scales like the Adidas Predator, the Hummel H-Spot brings a bit of dandy-ness to the field.
