This has been going around lately…I was tagged by Jamie who has the lovely blog Designklub.
Five interesting things about Sub-Studio:
1. Sean is a sneaker freak. He has enough pairs of sneakers to wear a different one each day for an entire month. Anna on the other hand, owns two pairs of sneakers, both of which she has owned for years.
2. In Anna’s lifetime, she has lived in five different countries (USA, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Italy), gone to ten different schools, lived through a bubonic plague outbreak, the Ayodhya riots and the riots that led to the separation of Uttaranchal from Uttar Pradesh. Sean has no cool stories to tell our future children.
3. Collectively, we have eaten the following disgusting things: duck’s blood, bee larva, fermented duck eggs, fried bees, fish eyeballs, ducks feet (melts in your mouth – ew!). But we have never eaten durian.
4. Sean has been skateboarding since he was ten, and Anna is an avid surfer (of the internet, that is!)
5. Anna has a fear of both flying and the deep ocean (she’s a landlubber!), and Sean has a fear of falling into sidewalk hatches.
And now you know. I’m not sure who hasn’t already done this already, but I’m tagging BBRK!

The New York Times created an interesting and touching (and depressing) data collage, titled “Faces of the Dead”. A series of squares form the collaged image of a deceased United States service member. Each square within the image represents an individual that has died in Iraq since the war began. Click on any of the squares and the image transforms to depict the picture of the particular person you are looking for. Searchable demographic information is also provided. So sad.

Brookhou Design makes many things – furniture, paper goods, textiles. I liked this table the most – it was made from ash that has been bent by steam, making for interesting forms within the table top. Bookhou is a collaboration between John Booth and Arounna Khounnoraj.

These simple necklaces by Ronni Kappos match a tranquil palette with soothing shapes of vintage German glass beads from the 1920′s and 30′s.

Jamie of Design-Milk always has really great posts…if you haven’t checked out her blog yet, I suggest you do so! Anyway, the Svea chairs by Gianluigi Landoni are one of her finds. I love the shape and simplicity of the chair. It comes in two options: with a back cushion, and with a wooden back. The chairs are available at Sedia.

I am dying to use these in one of my projects at work…I love these pendant lights from Bocci – they look like balls of ice, and I love the imperfections. I’m curious, though, as to how you change the bulb if you need to…

The Nike Okwahn re-release is another of the long line of ACG re-releases. I have always liked the ACG re-released shoes, they have always been more interesting and varied than the Air Max lines. The snakeskin upper is a nice example of some good flash to what was once a pretty drab shoe.
Now if they would only re-release the Air Terra Outback and the original Air Terra Goatek’s, I would be very happy.
Unfortunately, the Okwahns are not available from the Nike.com site.
